1. This walk commences at Ullapool’s Waste Transfer Station, located at the top of Morefield Brae on the right-hand side. It is 2.5 miles out of Ullapool, heading north and most easily accessed by car. It may be possible to plan your walk around bus times. Please park considerately by the B.T. Radio Station just before the entrance to the Recycling Centre.
2. Take an obvious track straight ahead of the Centre, heading out into open moorland. After approximately one mile, the track forks. Take the left hand fork, over a wooden bridge and start to head uphill.
3. After a further mile of walking steadily uphill, views of Loch Dubh start to appear.
On reaching the shore, now is an ideal time to stop and have a break, before retracing your steps to the car or to Ullapool. There are some fascinating rock formations to observe in this area, renowned for its geology.
The numbers on this map refer to mileage and not the points of the walk.
