All walks are dog-friendly, but please be mindful of our many varieties of wildlife. Livestock graze on the first field of this walk.

1. The start of this walk can be found after a 7 mile drive South of Ullapool on the A835 at the upper reaches of Loch Broom. Having passed Inverlael Farm and a stone bridge at the side of the road, the Walkers’ Car Park is on the left hand side.

Hill Walking

2. Having left the car park, turn right through a pedestrian gate to enter a field where livestock graze. Follow the path, keeping dogs on leads. On reaching a further metal pedestrian gate by a Scottish Water building keep straight ahead into Inverlael Forest.

Hill Walking

2.2 Follow this level path into the forest, ignoring a track to the left, which will be your return route. After approximately 1 mile, at a junction of three paths go straight ahead, ignoring paths to the right. Cross a vehicle bridge over the River Lael.

Hill Walking

3. Having crossed the bridge, turn sharply left over an area of rough ground to cross a wooden bridge and then follow the track gently downhill for approximately .75 mile until you reach the meeting of three tracks. Turn left over two wooden bridges and you will soon rejoin the outward route. Keep straight ahead and retrace your steps to the car park.
