Ullapool Composer James Douglas and his Classical Ensemble ‘The Glorious Company’ return with a ‘Summer Celebration’ evening of music by Handel, Charpentier, Mozart and James Douglas, with music for Flute, Piano, Soprano Saxophone, Trumpet, Baritone and Soprano.
James Douglas has long established a tradition of letting his audiences in Ullapool hear his new compositions first and this will be no exception. ‘The A835 to Ullapool’ is written for Flute & Piano and is in 3 movements: a) Ben Wyvis, b) Loch Droma and c) from Braemore to Ullapool.
Other music to feature at the exciting Concert will be ‘Peace of the Highlands’ the title track of James Douglas’ best-selling latest CD, ‘Café Society’ for Trumpet & Piano: a lively work depicting 5 very different Cafes in Paris, as well as other popular music by Charpentier, Mozart and Handel.
The Glorious Company will also feature the return for the first time in 2009 of soloist: Eileen Brown, an accomplished woodwind performer, who will perform with the Composer on the Soprano Saxophone and Piano.
